C15 connector / C16 appliance inlet
C15 connectors, also known as warm device plug, standard IEC / EN 60320-1/ C15 or C16 appliance inlet, standard IEC / EN 60320-1/ C16 are used for heat-generating appliances. Compared to cold appliance sockets and cold appliance plugs, they are made of a more heat-resistant material and are approved for temperatures of up to 120°C and a current carrying capacity of up to 10A/250V. The C15 connector is similar to the C13 connector, but has a slightly different contour and a groove. Hot appliance sockets C15A and hot appliance plugs C16A (DIN VDE 0625, part 1, standard sheet C15A) have a slightly different contour and are approved for up to 155°C and a current load of up to 10A/250V. Warm appliance and hot appliance couplings can be used on an appliance with a cold appliance plug, but cold appliance couplings cannot be connected to a hot appliance in order to prevent improper use.
